February 2023

Left to Right. Isobel Roope ceramics, Jean Holder hearts, ‘Love Birds’ window, Vicky Glyn’s textiles, Russ Iden.

This month we have new front window displays with Vicky Glyn’s colourful textiles and Isobel Roope’s stunning organic ceramics.  In our side window, we have a fantastic selection of work by our artists and makers on the theme of ‘Love Birds’ for Valentine’s Day.  This includes paintings, prints, cards, leatherwork, ceramics, textiles and jewellery.

If you’re looking for a Valentine gift for your special someone but just don’t know what to choose, you can always purchase a Gallery BN5 gift voucher which can be exchanged for a gift of their choice. We are open 10am-2pm, Monday-Saturday in the run up to Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, 14th February.

We’re pleased to say that new artists are continuing to join the gallery over the coming months. This month Worthing-based Russ Iden joins us for the first time with his versatile style and colourful work which includes decorated flowerpots, tea towels and greeting cards. Russ can work in virtually any artistic style and regularly does commissions, including large scale murals in commercial and domestic settings.

Please excuse our external appearance at present, the building in which the gallery is housed has scaffolding at the front and is undergoing essential roof maintenance. We expect we will be back to normal very soon. In the meantime, we’re hard to miss on Henfield High Street!

Just a note about our holiday closure. We will be closed on Good Friday, 7th April, open on Saturday 8th and closed again on Easter Sunday and Monday, 9th/10th April.

Happy New Year and welcome to the new look Gallery BN5 website!

The turn of 2022/2023 sees some changes at Gallery BN5. Nina Smith who has run the gallery so efficiently for the last four years with Esther Newnham-Brown has decided to retire. Stepping in to run the gallery with Esther is Henfield jeweller, Alison Crowe who has regularly exhibited at and supported the running of the gallery over the last few years.

We wish Nina all the very best for the future – she is not giving up making fused glass pieces and all her details can be found on her website at: http://www.henfieldglass.co.uk.

We have some new artists and makers coming into the gallery for 2023, so there will be plenty of new work to see throughout the year.

Take a look around the new website – as well as information about the artists currently exhibiting with us, you will see we now have the option to sign-up to our Newsletter. This will consist of an occasional emailed update on what’s happening in the gallery. Please rest assured that we will not be bombarding you with emails, will not share your information with anyone else, and you are free to unsubscribe at any time.

We also now have an Instagram account as well as a Facebook page, so do follow us to keep in touch and follow regular updates about what is happening at the gallery and who is exhibiting with us.

We wish you all the very best for 2023 and look forward to seeing you soon.
