John Bath My approach to painting is simply to interpret what I see. I like the calm quiet contemplative nature of painting and its restraint. I like a certain looseness, space, light and an airy quality within my works. At the same time I want to make it all to hang together. I paint landscapes of my local area that I have some feeling for. The content of theses works are on the morning or afternoon's weather and atmosphere. I tend to concentrate my observations on a 'corner' or 'view. With Still Life's I like the freedom to compose and arrange each object: it's colour and texture within a given light source that I find so interesting.I attend a 'Portrait class' once a week. I have never been a good critic of painting by using words, I find I can only go on feelings. Words I find can never describe paintings or how they came about.Website: johnbathartist.com
