Caroline Saunders

Caroline spent most of her childhood in rural surroundings in the South of England.  When she was a young child, someone once said to her “To be an Artist you must be able to see all the different colours that make-up whatever you are looking at”

She didn’t fully understand this at first but curiosity led her to look searchingly and she gradually began to see those colours; the multitudes of pinks, yellows, blues and greens that make up even a plain sheet of white paper, let alone a sparkling blue sea or a windswept hillside. Those colours have forever been the motivation in her work and she constantly strives to catch them in everything she creates.

Caroline studied Textile Design at Liverpool College of Art in the late 70’s and then worked for some years as a knitwear designer before retraining as an art teacher. Through encouraging students to see colour and realise it in their own work Caroline has now come full circle and is once again searching for that illusive sense of light, colour and texture in a part of the country that is filled with natural beauty.
