Linz Challice is an abstract artist based in West Sussex.
Her work is largely intuitive. She rarely starts with a plan, preferring to let each painting develop as she works. She builds up layers, makes marks, changes direction and responds to what is happening on the surface.
Line features strongly in Linz’s work, creating shapes and patterns that people often interpret in very different ways. Maps, landscapes, pathways, cells and organic forms have all been spotted in her paintings, although Linz deliberately leaves that interpretation to the viewer.
After many years of making art alongside a corporate career, Linz now has more time and space to concentrate on her practice.
Her work has been selected for a number of national and international exhibitions and competitions. What Lies Beneath was selected for the London Art Biennale in 2023. Rumination in Pink was longlisted for the Visual Art Open in 2024, followed by Entanglements in 2025. In 2026, Linz was selected to exhibit at Sussex Art Fair at Goodwood, and she has been selected to exhibit at Art Surrey at Sandown Park in 2027.
